Rare Earth Ferro Silicon (Nodulant)
Rare Earth Ferro Silicon is mainly used by thr production of ductile iron in sandwich process. Among the advantages using it are,
- Low silicon content in Nodulant increase the melting flexibility by allowing the use of higher silicon in the base iron enabling all the available ductile iron returns to be used in the charge during treatment. This can increase the lining life of induction furnace as much as 40% compare to those without increasing the base silicon.
- Nodulant provides flexibility in based sulfur and temperatures without worry on the excess of silicon, which means ductile iron can be produced directly from a high sulfur based iron.
- Scrap are reduced by using Nodulant as it contain no aluminium and do not provoke hydrogen pinholes.
- Nodulant provides cleaner metal and lower scrap rates due to dross also.
